Chile, Maipo Valley VINEYARDS: Located in the coastal sector of the Maipo Valley, the vineyards are planted on moderately fertile soils and include slopes in some piedmont areas. Rigorous vine management and minimal irrigation ensure deeply concentrated fruit. The grapes ripened very slowly and were hand-picked at the optimum degree of maturity in late April. VINIFICATION AND AGEING: The vinification process began with a 5-day cold soak at 8-10ºC (46°-50°F). The must was then fermented in stainless steel tanks at 26-30ºC (79°-86°F) for 7 days, after which the new wine underwent an extended skin contact for a minimum of 10 days. The wine aged in French oak al least 6 months. TASTING NOTES: Deep red in color, with intense, complex aromas of red and black fruit, cassis, and chocolate. Full-bodied and silky-smooth, with good structure, plenty of fruit, and soft, well-rounded tannins. Ends nicely with a long finsih Available at major supermarkets while stocks last.
